There are two archives, National and City ones in the main city of the country, which turns into a metropolitan. The most valuable of them are in storage up to 75 years. Due to long-term storage, paper became decrepit and it is difficult to read the text. The city archives keep the documents of Akmola division organized during the Great Patriotic War. Most of them are written in pencil. It is necessary to apply to modern technology — to transfer to digital format and record on the hard drive to save documents of widespread use.
However, the data saved on disc can also be erased for technical reasons. In this case, employees of Insurance Fund come into action. The Insurance Fund continues to work productively in the field of archival business for many years. Recently, the Archive of Astana began to replenish its fund with documents brought from abroad. Through mutual cooperation with the Russian Federation archives, copies of documents concerning the history of Kazakhstan became available for the Kazakhstan researchers.
The list includes: Records on oath of allegiance to the Russian Empire adopted by barak Sultan in 1745 in the Orenburg Province chancellery, the Report of the Governor of Orenburg General-Lieutenant Reinsdorf dated 24 September 1779 on assignment the title of khan to Sultan Abylai according to the decree of Empress . Documents, where the life of the Kazakh steppe divided into counties, is described, found its rightful place on the shelves of our archive after well-known ‘Charter on Siberian Kirghiz people’. Information about regular fairs from 15 May, 1842 in Karkaralinsk and Akmolinsk districts, from 1 October in Ayaguz and Kokshetau districts will be interesting for historians. These elements form National Archival Fund.
Rare historical documents can be found in several inventories of the fund No.430. The issue of violence against local Kazakhs by Cossack troops who served on the Siberian border was raised in the letter of 6th inventory dated by 1841. Loss of Kazakh people’s cattle, which inhabited the banks of the Ishim and Nura was set forth to Orenburg Border Commission .
The materials of the Main military headquarters of Orenburg Region for capture and punishment of the rebellion sultan Kenesary Kasymov are filed in the case under No.1184 . There are personal affairs of the Kazakh students studied at Kazan Imperial University of XIX-XX centuries among these rare papers. The records from 20 March, 1845 inform on transfer of three rare manuscripts in Persian to the University by Khan Zhangir .
